Amber Education Services Ltd. was founded in 1994 and is co-owned
by Wade and Karen Simmons. In its original vision Amber Education
Services Ltd. began by offering instruction and consulting in
small business and entrepreneurship. Drawing heavily from their
combined 32 years of banking experience, the partners were able
to design and implement classes and packages of services that
were realistic, practical and readily applicable to potential
new small business owners. In 1996, Amber Education Services Ltd.
expanded to incorporate tourism programming which mirrored these
same principles.
Working as part of the community Amber Education Services tapped
into local resources and expertise to provide instruction in consulting
for specialty areas. These areas included local business owners,
Chambers of Commerce, Tourism Associations and other community
agencies.
In 1997, Amber Education Services Ltd. partnered in the joint
venture known as the Cowichan Career Resource Centre and successfully
managed this vital community resource until 2002.
In 2001, Amber Education Services Ltd. developed a debt counselling
service for local residents. This is an information opportunity
for individuals, troubled by the burden and stress of debt, to
discuss strategies and options for moving forward in their financial
lives.
In May of 2002, Amber Education Services Ltd. was successful
in obtaining the Community Co-ordination Agreement for the Training
Support Program and this required the dissolution of the joint
venture partnership and Amber Education Services Ltd. moved to
new premises.
After twelve years of providing service, Amber Education Services
Ltd. is pleased to be part of the south central Vancouver Island
economies and look forward to the challenges in the coming months
and years.
